Balinese Oil Painting (6.5" x 6.5") - GDE15

Oil painting by Gde Suasta of Bali, Indonesia. Painting on cardstock paper including a temporary black mat measuring approx 6.5" x 6.5" (unevenly cut) signed by the artist. The rudimentary combination of material contributes to this vibrant and attractive work of art. Gde Suasta was born in the village of Pejeng Gianyar Residency in Bali, Indonesia in 1968 a region where most are peasants and artists of some sort. Since he was a boy Gde has been especially attracted to painting. He painted eggs in primary school as do all Balinese school children but completed his schooling without any formal art education. Accompanied by the support of his wife Ketut Sulasih Gde opened an art shop in Ubud Bali to showcase and sell his paintings. His artwork has been collected by travelers from Europe Australia and the United States.
